The concept
of existentialism has been a matter of hot debate and controversy in the
philosophy of Kierkegaard and Sartre. The futility, nothingness and
absurdity of the human condition worldwide were all justified and led to
a kind of solution by different approaches like Christianity, loss of
faith, authentic existence and responsibility. Accordingly, the
universal human condition was pondered in different ways and the
philosophy of thought tried to render an awareness of such condition for
human beings. The present study aims at exploring some of these
approaches purported by prominent existentialists like Sartre and
Kierkegaard and discuss the myriad controversies over the concept of
existentialism.
